Community Outreach EventsWILLOW OAK ARTS FEST in SPRINGFIELD - SATURDAY, MAY 11, 2024
Global Education Center is not only in the classroom and in the studio, but we are also out in the community. We partner with local libraries, educational centers and regional festivals to bring culturally diverse performances of dance and music out into the community to create cultural understanding and respect that is invaluable to creating community between us all.

HUMANITIES FOCUS FOR 2023-2024 - Three Roots of Appalachia Every year, Global Education Center chooses a humanities focus for the year, and for 2023-2024, we are focusing on The Roots of Appalachia: Indigenous, Black, and Scots-Irish as well as taking a look at how more recent arrivals from Spanish-speaking countries have blended into the unique culture and traditions of the region. Through documentary films, literary arts, visual arts, music and dance, we will explore each of these roots as well as the blending of these cultures that truly make Appalachia unique.
